NZ Box Office Report: 21 June 2026

31 years on from the original outing of Woody, Buzz et al, Toy Story 5 opened on 101 screens, picking up an impressive $1,350,854 for a non-school holiday weekend.

Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day dropped to #2, playing 110 screens, and earning $319,894. It’s now totalled $1,125,202.

Also dropping one spot, to #3, was Obsession, which took $280,203 from 66 screens for $2,245,990, putting it at almost the same amount as Backrooms, which placed at #5 this weekend.

Opening their runs in the top 10 over the weekend were Indian title Cocktail 2 (at #7) and The Death of Robin Hood (at #10).

Caterpillar continued on 28 screens, earning $7,350 for a total of $342,841.

On 12 screens, The Time Travellers Guide to Hamilton Gardens added took $1,934 and now has $189,595.

Now in its 16th week, Tenor: My Name is Pati is down to 5 screens, and added $1,012 for $1,128,744.

Also on 5 screens was The Weed Eaters, which picked up $751 for a total of $50,822.

Two locals played 6 screens each over the weekend. Moss & Freud added $538 for a gross of $15,227. Sgt. Haane earned $362 for $283,375

Openers this week include Minions & Monsters and Supergirl.
