Melissa George (The Mosquito Coast) will star in Ms. X, a darkly comic crime drama commissioned by Warner Bros. Discovery’s TV3 in New Zealand.
The series is created by New Zealand duo Hannah Marshall and David de Lautour, and produced by Plus6Four and South Pacific Pictures, with Dynamic Television on board as co-producer and global distributor. Production kicks off June 2, with a premiere slated for next spring. Funding support comes from NZ On Air and the NZ Screen Production Rebate.
Ms. X follows a suburban mum (George) who conspires with an old high school friend to scare her cheating husband into fidelity. But when their scheme goes fatally wrong, she’s dragged into a chaotic criminal underworld—wedged between cops, a cartel, and a ruthless PTA.
De Lautour will direct and executive produce alongside Marshall and Gareth Williams for Plus6Four Entertainment, Kelly Martin for South Pacific Pictures, and Daniel March for Dynamic Television.
“Ms. X is a distinctive, fast-paced crime thriller—relentless, suspenseful, and fun,” said March, Dynamic’s Managing Partner. “Melissa George is a global star who will make Ms. X unforgettable.”
Marshall added: “This is a darkly comic look at New Zealand’s criminal underworld, blending our unique Kiwi humour with a twisting, high-stakes narrative—crafted for a global audience.”
South Pacific Pictures CEO Kelly Martin called the series “an exciting new project from Hannah and David. Alongside Melissa, we’re working with some of New Zealand’s finest talent to deliver a world-class show.”
George’s recent work includes Apple TV+’s The Mosquito Coast, HBO’s In Treatment (for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination), and both versions of The Slap. She also appeared in Peaceful opposite Catherine Deneuve, and films such as Mulholland Drive, Amityville Horror, and The Eddy. She is represented by Gersh, Inspire Entertainment, GGSSC, and Cameron’s Management.
Marshall, repped by Johnson & Laird and Sue Barnett & Associates, previously worked with De Lautour on Alibi and has written for Double Parked, Raised by Refugees, and The Darkness.
De Lautour, represented by Johnson & Laird, Morrissey Management, Zero Gravity, CAA, and Hirsch Wallerstein, has directed The Brokenwood Mysteries, My Life Is Murder, Westside, and Alibi.
