A long-held dream for the team behind the University of Canterbury’s (UC) screen and digital production complex has come to fruition, with its first commercial international feature film contract.
Kōawa Studios – the first commercial operation of its kind in the South Island – has confirmed it partnered with New Zealand production company Firefly Films on the movie Holy Days, starring Miriam Margolyes, Judy Davis and Jacki Weaver.
The actresses were on set at the institution’s Dovedale campus to film key scenes, using cutting-edge digital technology which sped up production and saved Firefly money.
