This 1966 documentary examines New Zealand’s first six years of television, and ponders its future. Political scientist Reg Harrison discusses local content, a second channel, private enterprise, editorial independence, and TV’s impact on society. Featuring interviews with film legend Rudall Hayward, MPs, and the privacy-conscious Gordon Dryden, the film sparked debate. Director Gordon Bick later noted the NZBC allowed “a good deal of criticism against itself” on air.
