NZ Box Office report: 9 February 2025

Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown continued to top the chart in its third weekend, playing on 116 screens and adding $194,444 to lift its total to $1,142,776.

Mufasa: The Lion King placed at #2, taking $90,930 from 86 screens for $4,370,241.

Widow Clicquot was the highest-placed new arrival, entering the chart at #3, and taking $88,358 from a modest 62 screens. Its total take, including earlier screenings, is $258,618.

Music doco Becoming Led Zeppelin played 56 screens, earning $65,390 to place at #7.

At #10, Moana 2 added $47,448 to take it past $A10 million, for a gross take of $10,136,351.

The Haka Party Incident added $7,194 from 20 screens, and has now totalled $24,436.

Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara arrived on 23 screens, taking a disappointing $3,864 for a total of $4,748. We Were Dangerous returned and played 3 screens over the weekend, taking $500 and lifting its total to $642,494.

Never Look Away added $474 from a single screen, for a total of $124,695. Also on a single screen, Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End came out of retirement to add $105 for a total of $894,749.

In the honorary NZ titles department, Better Man took just under $5,000 from 17 screens here, and also had an excellent weekend in Australia, where it picked up nine gongs across the two AACTA Awards ceremonies.

Shot-in-NZ Wolf Man is now looking towards the exit, taking $1,318 from 19 screens, for a gross of $146,704.

Lee, on 6 screens over the weekend, has now taken $1,138,690.

Opening this week, just in time for Valentine’s Day, is Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, along with the considerably less romantic horror Heart Eyes.
