Tinā’s time at the top has come to an end following the arrival of another film shot in NZ, A Minecraft Movie, which took $2,522,477 from 110 screens and the top spot.
After four weeks at #1, Tinā dropped to #2, and took $335,450 from 122 screens. It’s now grossed $4,552,760 and is comfortably ensconced in the all-time top ten list of best box office earnings for NZ films. It’s currently at #6, and would need another $2 million to pass the current #5, Whale Rider.
Steady at #3, Jason Statham vehicle A Working Man played 88 screens, adding $181,523 for a total of $515,815.
On its opening weekend, Project Fiftyone played 16 screens, and earned $3,975. Also on 16 screens, The Rule of Jenny Pen added $2,063for box office earnings of $45,095.
Maurice & I played a single screen, took $750 and now has a total of $353,695. On 5 screens, Moana 2 added $614 to take its gross to $10,191,243.
Opening this week ahead of next week’s Easter weekend are a couple of family-friendly animated titles, Dog Man and The King of Kings, plus action thriller The Amateur and indie comedy horror Death of a Unicorn.
