As it has done elsewhere, Zootopia 2 opened its run in the top spot, playing a modest 99 screens here, and taking $849,048.
Last weekend’s winner, Wicked: For Good, stepped down to the #2 spot, adding $615,650 from 121 screens to lift its gross take to $2,577,974.
At #3, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t also stepped down one place from its position last weekend. From 102 screens, it added $123,781 for a total of $803,654.
At #6, Pike River continued its run on 90 screens. Its weekend earnings of $46,739 lifted its total to $1,323,101.
On 29 screens, Prime Minister took another $4,246 to take its total to $1,051,484.
Returning for a single-screen outing Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End added $1,380 for $897,001.
Grace: A Prayer for Peace took $477 from 5 screens, taking its total to $43,443.
The week’s new arrivals include Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 and dramedy Eternity from A24.
