NZ Box Office report: 3 November 2024

Venom: The Last Dance held on to the spot over the weekend, playing 94 screens and adding $334,435. It’s now grossed $1,287,187.

The remaining podium positions were taken by Indian titles, presumably in part down to the weekend being part of the Diwali celebrations. At #2, Anees Bazmee’s comedy horror Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, clocking in at 150 minutes, took $220,282 from 48 screens. At #3, Rohit Shetty’s 145 minute action drama Singham Again also played 48 screens, taking $178,424.

Generally speaking, there weren’t any particularly Hallowe’en-themed titles opening last Thursday, although a 20th anniversary run-out of Shaun of the Dead and the Terror-Fi Festival both did their bit to mark the event. 

No NZ title ranked in the top 30 over the weekend, with Encanto Reo Maori at #31. It added $1,319 from 3 screens to reach $227,052.

On 40 screens, Christine Jeffs’ A Mistake took $1,244 for a total of $111,685. On 3 screens, Bookworm took $168 to total $465,995, while We Were Dangerous played on 9 screens, took $80 and now has earned $639,981*.

Opening this week are Christmas-themed Red One, and SLN-themed Saturday Night
