Opening on 98 screens, The Naked Gun took $253,211 and the top spot over the weekend, for a total of $297,511 including previews.
Weapons dropped into the #2 spot, playing on 83screens over the weekend, and added $170,795 to push its gross past $1m, to $1,032,346.
Again at #3, The Fantastic Four: First Steps took $89,502 from 84 screens, ending the weekend with a total take of $2,471,014.
Curtis Vowell’s Workmates opened on a very small 34 screens, having had its premiere in the NZIFF. Over the weekend it took $8,743, which is probably somewhere between disappointing and a concern.
Tinā marked six months in cinemas this weekend. It played 7 screens, and took $598 for a total $6,483,141.
Again playing a single screen, A Minecraft Movie added $460 and has now grossed $10,008,286.
Doco The House Within, which added $153 from 11 screens for a total of $45,240.
Kōkā returned to weekend screenings, taking $87 from 10 screens and now has a gross of $240,541.
Popping up for a single screen appearance, The Justice of Bunny King took $50 and has now grossed $217,458.
New arrivals this week will include Caught Stealing, directed by Darren Aronofsky with a cast including Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz.
