After the final weekend of the school holidays, the top three looks exactly as it did after the previous weekend, with no changes other than the dollar takes.
Inside Out 2 remained on top, adding $1,050,813 from 120 screens to become the year’s highest earner at the NZ box office, with a total to date of $7,933,334.
At #2, Despicable Me 4 played on 113 screens, adding $819,934 to gross $5,816,658.
At #3, Twisters played 96 screens, adding $386,853 to pass a $1 million take.
Longlegs (above) was the best of the new arrivals, with weekend takings of $229,494 adding to previews to take its total to $275,685.
At #10, Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End found its second wind, and had a strong weekend on 90 screens, adding $55,259 to gross $756,389. It’s now become the highest local earner at the NZ box office.
MaXXXine played 16 screens, taking $13,507 to push its gross to $58,124.
Some of the recent NZ releases came back, all on a single screen. The Mountain added $291 for a total $736,918. The Moon is Upside Down added $65 for $125,368. Joika added $48 for $147,475.
Of the openers arriving this week, Deadpool and Wolverine is likely to be the best performer.
