NZ Box Office Report: 19 October 2025

Tron: Ares closed its second weekend at #1, holding on to the top spot and adding $133,836 off 90 screens. It’s now passed half a mil, with total earnings of $540,249. It was the only one of last weekend’s podium placers still in the top three, as new arrivals filled the #2 and #3 spots.

On 75 screens Black Phone 2 placed at #2, earning $112,877.

Roofman took the #3 position, playing 96 screens for $109,141.

Last weekend’s #3, doco Prime Minister, dropped to #5, adding $75,367 for a gross so far of $808,909.

The 50th anniversary outing for Hamilton’s favourite son, Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show, played a modest 53 screens, for $40,371.

Aussie family-friendly flick Kangaroo took $15,162, and now has earnings of $595,819.

Grace: A Prayer for Peace played 11 screens, taking $3,313 for a total of $38,207. Fellow doco Devils on Horses played a single screen, taking $310 for $869.

Other local docos playing included Mauri, also on a single screen, which added $153 for $6,442; and on 8 screens Life in One Chord, which took $49 for a gross of $89,091.

Went Up The Hill played 10 screens, taking $271 for a total of $5,449. At the other end of the earnings spectrum, Tinā took $20 from a single screen outing, for a total of $6,485,487.

The week’s new arrivals include biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, which tackles the making of one of his less loud albums, Nebraska; and Chris Stuckmann’s horror, Shelby Oaks.
