There’s no slowing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 down, which tops the chart for the fourth weekend in a row. On 104 screens, it added $231,029 to gross $3,169,185.
For the second weekend in a row, the second and third-placed titles from the previous weekend traded places, with Mufasa: The Lion King coming off better this time. Taking $227,366 from 112 screens, it’s now grossed $3,628,147.
Paddington in Peru played 113 screens, taking $226,783 to gross $1,812,465.
Holding at #5, Moana 2 played 100 screens. It added $152,088 for a total take of $9,652,995.
NZ-shot Wolf Man opened at #8 from 78 screens, with a take of $73,778.
Better Man (for which Weta picked up a BAFTA nomination a few days ago) added $29,111 from 77 screens.It’s now taken just over half a million dollars here, although its performance globally has it tracking to be the first flop of the year.
In the lower depths of the chart, Lee added $1,227 for a total of $1,134,764, while We Were Dangerous added $855 for a $641,995 gross.
Never Look Away took $557 to lift its total to $123,351; The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim earned $260 for a total of $260,822; and What We Do in the Shadows took $105 to take its total to $2,601,424.
Opening this week is the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, with Timothée Chalamet.
