It Ends with Us (above) took $700,029, lifting its total to $2,088,012, as it clawed its way above Deadpool & Wolverine to take the #1 spot.
At #2, Deadpool & Wolverine played 107 screens, adding $583,375 to pass $7 million with its gross now $7,007,849.
Placing third, Alien: Romulus opened on 94 screens, taking $444,045 for a total including previews of $494,682.
Dropping one spot to #6, Ant Timpson’s Bookworm played 100 screens, adding $102,493 for a total of $233,431.
At #25, Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End added $3,536 to take its total to $858,216.
Four local titles pretty much done with their theatrical runs made a return. The Mountain added $500 for $737,618. Next Goal Wins also added 500, taking its total to $1,352,401. The Moon is Upside Down took $50 for a total of $125,913. Joika added $15, to gross $147,561.
Openers this week include We Were Dangerous, which moves from the NZIFF to its general release, and Zoë Kravitz’s thriller Blink Twice, with a cast including Channing Tatum, Christian Slater and Geena Davis.
