Nothing much changed at the top of the chart over the holiday weekend, with the top three titles all holding on to the same positions from the previous weekend.
At #1, the live-action Lilo and Stitch continued on 104 screens, adding $1,061,393 to extend its gross take to $2,686,275.
In second place, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning also continued on the same number of screens, 120, taking $770,091 to total $3,069,625.
At #3, Final Destination Bloodlines took $160,647 to push its total into seven figures, and now has overall earnings of $1,009,522.
The Philippou Brothers’ Bring Her Back opened at #6 on 62 screens, taking $84,282 over the weekend.
At #10, A Minecraft Movie added $36,269 for a gross of $9,958,903 and might just scrape past $10 million before it ends its run.
Tinā added $34,085 and has grossed $6,324,672. Across the ditch, it’s set to pass AU$3 million this week, after a $100K take over the weekend.
Marlon Williams: Ngā Ao E Rua – Two Worlds played 19 screens, taking $6,401 for a total of $201,560.
Indie drama The People We Love added $1,197 for $34,038, while Forgive Us All earned $111 for $15,451.
A couple of oldies came out of retirement for single-screen outings. Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit earning $215 for a total of $5,470,517; and Kent Belcher’s Alien Weaponry: Kua Tupu Te Ara added $28 for $6,066.
This week’s new arrivals include Welsh womance Chuck Chuck Baby, the mouthful of a title that is From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.
