The Māoriland Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 2025 edition.
Founded in 2014 to celebrate Indigenous voices and storytelling in film, MFF is now the largest presenter of indigenous storytelling in the southern hemisphere.
The organisation’s recently received NZFC support for training initiative Māoriland Indigenous Co-Lab, which will upskill filmmakers via a writers’ residency and support to build teams, package and present projects seeking finance at international market events.
It will support five Māori feature film projects to become finance and production-ready.
For next year’s festival, submissions are open until 27 November via FilmFreeway. Submissions are free until the 31 October earlybird deadline. MFF25 will run 26 – 30 March, 2025.
