Kiwi project off to Montreal

Elizabeth Crummett’s supernatural thriller Delia’s Ghost, written by Crummett and Hamish Brown and produced by Belindalee Hope (Madam, Joika, Guns Akimbo), is named among the selections for this year’s Frontières Co-Production Market in Montreal.

The project won selection to Frontières via FanPitch at last year’s Sitges Cinema Fantástic in Barcelona, where it won the Frontières Award for best feature film pitch. In the Sitges Festival last year, James Ashcroft’s The Rule of Jenny Pen was also a winner.

Frontières runs during Montreal’s Fantasia festival, where Ant Timpson’s Bookworm premiered and won the Audience Award for Best International Feature last year.

A couple of other projects selected alongside Delia’s Ghost also have connections with Ant Timpson. Psychological horror Holi Womb is from Anouk Whissell, one of the RoadKill SuperStar team which made Canada-NZ co-pro Turbo Kid with Ant Timpson; supernatural horror The Halfway House comes from Aussie director Mia’Kate Russell (M is for Muff, from The ABCs of Death 2.5), who’s currently in production on feature Penny Lane is Dead.

Per Frontières, Delia’s Ghost tells the tale of the ghost of a volatile punk, who finds purpose when a little girl moves in who can see and talk to him. From violent poltergeist to guardian angel, he vows to protect her from both the living and the dead.

See the Frontières site for the full list of projects selected.
