Jodi O’Donnell appointed TVNZ Chief Executive

Jodi O’Donnell has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of TVNZ, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to lead the broadcaster.

With over two decades of dedicated service at TVNZ, O’Donnell currently holds the position of Commercial Director and has been instrumental in driving “significant innovation and strategic change,” according to TVNZ board chairman Alastair Carruthers.

Carruthers remarked, “She possesses a profound understanding of the media landscape and is deeply committed to addressing the challenges and seizing the opportunities that lie ahead for TVNZ in its pursuit of a digitally oriented future.”

Effective January 30, O’Donnell will assume her new role, succeeding interim Chief Executive Brent McAnulty, who took over following the departure of Simon Power.

Expressing her gratitude, O’Donnell stated, “It has been an immense privilege to dedicate most of my career to TVNZ. I hold a strong belief in the significance of local media and the power of sharing New Zealand’s stories. TVNZ has a rich and vital history, as well as an exciting and promising future.”

She added, “Our organization boasts an exceptional team of dedicated professionals committed to serving our advertisers and audiences. I eagerly anticipate leading our talented individuals as we embark on a transformation journey, positioning TVNZ as a digital-first media organization.”
