ITVX picks up Kiwi dark comedy Good Grief

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has acquired New Zealand-produced dark comedy Good Grief for its streaming platform ITVX.

The deal covers both seasons of the series.

Co-created by and starring real-life sisters Eve Palmer (The Brokenwood Mysteries) and Grace Palmer (Shortland Street), the show takes a sharp and irreverent look at the “death-care” industry.

Set in a small Kiwi town, the series follows millennial sisters Ellie and Gwen Goode, who unexpectedly inherit their grandfather’s funeral parlour and suddenly find themselves navigating the strange — and sometimes absurd — realities of the business of death.

Good Grief is produced by Brown Sugar Apple Grunt Productions, the company behind The Legend of Baron To’a.

The series was acquired by ITV from AMC Networks and Dynamic Television, marking another international platform for the New Zealand comedy as it continues to build an overseas audience.
