The latest New Zealand-made movie has just had a red-carpet premiere in the Waikato town where it was largely shot – but you won’t find The Tavern coming to a multiplex near you soon.
“We have made the brave-slash-idiotic decision not to release the movie through regular distributors, and not to release it in Auckland at all,” explains writer-actor-producer Matt Hicks.
