They say the key to success in filmmaking is persistence. Kiwi writer/director Gerard Johnstone is nothing if not persistent.
A friend for more than 20 years, my most enduring early memories of Johnstone involve attempting to lure him out to weekend parties, only for him to inexplicably decline in the name of “staying in to write”.
Speaking to Johnstone, 47, while he puts the finishing touches on hotly anticipated sequel M3GAN 2.0 in Los Angeles, I present him with this recollection.
