The Government will put an extra $2.75 million a year into funding game studios and start-ups by providing more grants for prototypes, development and travel grants, Science, Innovation and Technology Minister Shane Reti has announced.
The funding announcement came shortly before the Game Developers’ Association released a report that showed rapid growth in the industry.
Reti said the extra grants would be provided from next year by doubling the funding provided through the industry’s Centre of Digital Excellence (Code).
