Wallywood has a nice ring to it, according to Upper Hutt mayor Wayne Guppy, who says a $50m film and television studio is good news for the local economy.
His reference relates to Wallaceville-based Lane St Studios, possibly Upper Hutt’s best kept secret – a by-product of a film industry that insists on discretion.
A major feature film is being shot there right now. Co-founder and chief executive Kristy Grant says the four-hectare site is effectively in lockdown.
