On fewer screens than any other film in the top ten, Siddharth Anand’s action title Fighter, with Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor, took the top spot. On 45 screens, it took $322,129.
Wonka continued to hold the second spot, adding $252,390 from 97 screens, to push its gross over $6 million.
Mean Girls dropped two spots to #3. Playing on 90 screens, it added $193,699 for a total $843,279.
Local interest on the chart was confined to two titles.
Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins added $8,470 for a total $1,334,166.
On a single screen, Tom Sainsbury’s Loop Track took $78 to push its total take to $73,032.
Titles opening this week include Matthew Vaughn’s spy-thriller Argylle, with a cast including Henry Cavill, John Cena, Dua Lipa and Sam Rockwell; and Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla, with Cailee Spaeny as the eponymous wife-to-be of Elvis Presley.
