Bob Marley: One Love held on to the top spot over last weekend, its 121-screen take of $427,358 almost triple the take of the second-placed film. The biopic has now grossed $1,455,556.
New arrival Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To the Hashira Training took $147,715 on its opening weekend to come second.
Madame Web, the previous weekend’s #2, dropped to #3 and took $112,703 to gross $441,328, in another example of cinema-goers diminishing interest in superhero stories.
New arrivals in the top ten included The Zone of Interest at #5, on the back of its win as Best British Film at the BAFTAs last week, and horror Baghead at #6.
Aussie thriller Force of Nature: The Dry 2 continued on 100 screens, taking $25,065 for a total of $267,857.
Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls opened at #17, taking $18,272.
Annie Goldson’s Red Mole: A Romance played 4 screens and added $1,702 to total $7,303; on a single screen, Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins took $421 and has now grossed $1,348,059.
Films opening this week include Dune: Part Two and Malaysian coming-of-age title Tiger Stripes, which has been censored on home turf.
