Wonka opened on 123 screens, earned $1,032,35 and took the top spot on the last weekend before the holidays.
Next Goal Wins, on 120 screens, dropped off the top of the table and added $181,794 to lift its gross to $714,631.
Also dropping one spot, to #3, was The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. From 101 screens, it took $158,167 over the weekend to total $3,449,921.
The 20th anniversary of Christmas perennial Love Actually placed at #16, taking $7,299 to gross $23,087 from its current re-release.
The NZ titles all dropped into the lower reaches of the weekend’s chart, almost done with their theatrical runs.
Bad Behaviour and Ms. Information both played single screens, both took $86 to lift their total takes to $57,568 and $80,399 respectively.
Uproar played 4 screens, took $29 and now has a total of $794,996. Loop Track took $16 from 2 screens, and has now total $72,194.
Building Bridges: Bill Yourens Vision of Peace played a single screen and added $11 to total $13,192.
