To nobody’s surprise, the latest Mission Impossible title opened in the top spot. Dead Reckoning Part One played 119 screens taking $1,256,433. Along with extensive preview screenings, the film has already grossed $2,395,855.
Last week’s #1 and #2 dropped one place. At #2 after the last weekend of the school holidays, Elemental played 108 screens, adding $427,816 for a total $2,744,067.
Now at #3, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny played 122 screens, taking $405,522 to gross $2,841,896.
Two films opened in the top ten, Lost in the Stars at #7 and the reo Maori version of Disney’s Coco, which took $80,107 from 70 screens.
Five other NZ titles had outings last weekend.
The Tank, which has disappeared from the chart, played on a couple of screens, adding $70 to gross $20,497.
Festival titles James & Isey, Waru and Whetū Mārama – Bright Star all played, as did Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
