Box Office report: 15 October 2023

As well as finding time over last weekend to attend football games and pop up on Saturday Night Live, Taylor Swift also took the box office crown in plenty of territories, including NZ. Taylor Swift: The ERAS Tour opened on 75 screens, taking $664,957.

It’s not the year’s biggest opening weekend, but – in NZ – the film took over five times the amount of its closest rival.

Uproar benefitted from very positive reviews and climbed from #3 on its opening weekend to take second spot last weekend, earning $126,203 off 113 screens. Its total take is now $386,781.

The Creator, which has had mixed reviews, dropped from #1 to #3, taking $113,547 off 103 screens to pass $900,00 in gross earnings.

New arrivals in the top 10 were Kannur Squad, on 12 screens, and The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2023, on 43.

Outside the top 10, River of Freedom continued, adding $21,644 from 22 screens to extend its gross to $333,126. The Doc Edge-premiered Taking Back Our Beach took $5,085 from 11 screens. Stylebender added $2,582 from 23 screens, and Building Bridges: Bill Yourens Vision of Peace took 197 from $12,854.
