The weekend saw lots of titles change position, and the rare site of less than $50,000 separating the takes of the top three titles.
Last weekend’s #2 climbed into the top spot over the weekend, with Wonka adding $306,298 from 111 screens to gross $5,033,263.
The latest Jason Statham vs everyone title, The Beekeeper (above), arrived in the #2 spot, taking $269,938 on its opening weekend.
Aquaman’s time at the top came to an end as Lost Kingdom dropped two spots to end the weekend in third place. It added $257,405 to lift its gross to $3,084,827.
The takes for the rest of the top ten titles offered no surprises, with Alexander Payne’s overlong comedy The Holdovers the only other new arrival.
Falling four spots to #15, Next Goal Wins added $29,139 to total $1,293,877.
Fans of Chinese romcoms turned out for the third (and last) instalment of Xiaogang Feng’s If You Are The One, a mere 13 years after part two.
Of the Kiwi titles, Bad Behaviour played on two screens, taking $177 to total $57,659.
All the other local titles played a single screen, with Ms. Information’s take now at $81,704, and Loop Track’s now $72,770.
Three older titles also played a single screen: Building Bridges: Bill Yourens Vision of Peace, Kiwi Christmas and ANZ anthology We Are Still Here.
