Australian Film, Television and Radio School Make new Appointments

Content executive Natalie Robinson-Hurst has assumed the role of Head of Production at AFTRS, bringing with her over 25 years of experience in the screen industry. During her tenure at the ABC spanning 14 years, she served as a series producer for renowned children’s programs such as Giggle and Hoot and The Wonder Gang. Later, she took on the role of supervising producer for shows like Play School, Gardening Australia Junior, and Reef School.

Robinson-Hurst’s extensive career also includes significant roles at MTV Australia and The Walt Disney Company, where she held positions such as supervising producer, acting head of production, producer, and series producer, with a significant portion of her time spent in London.

Joining Robinson-Hurst are five other distinguished professionals appointed to key roles at AFTRS: Jenevieve Chang as the discipline lead for screenwriting, Zanny Begg for BA directing, Indrani Kopal for BA editing, Ann Megalla for BA production, and Simon Smith for MA cinematography.

David Balfour, AFTRS Director of Teaching and Learning, expressed his pride in welcoming these “exceptional educators and creatives” to the institution. He emphasized AFTRS’s commitment to fostering industry collaboration and innovative pedagogy, affirming their dedication to providing an environment of educational excellence.

Balfour concluded by stating his confidence in the significant contributions these talented professionals will make to the students and the AFTRS community at large.
