Starting today, the inaugural International Production Design Week is offering an ambitious programme of in-person and online events in many countries and timezones.
The full programme boasts 90 or so events to dip into.
Here in NZ, a trio of production designers – all of whom attended the Production Designers Collective gathering in Greece – will put on an event in Auckland to mark the week. Grant Major (Lord of the Rings trilogy, Power of the Dog. King Kong), Tracy Collins (Power Rangers Cosmic Fury, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always, White Lies) and Gary Mackay (Cowboy Bebop, Shadow in the Cloud, Haunting of the Queen Mary) are the people putting in the legwork to make it happen.
The NZ Production Designers Muster 2023 is open to all Production Designers, Art Directors, Set Decorators, and Prop Masters of Aotearoa.
Another event on the programme with a NZ connection is a session with Shayne Fox on the production design for the TV series What We Do in the Shadows, although the session runs at a not-too-friendly time in NZ.
