WIFT to host ‘What’s the Drama with Vertical?’ panel in Christchurch

Vertical microdramas, those quick, snappy series perfect for watching on your phone, are shaking things up in the global screen world. They’re made for people who love to scroll and binge, and they’ve been a huge hit overseas, now starting to catch on here in Aotearoa. This is sparking some interesting chats about how we tell stories, get money for them, who gets to watch and what we can make from it.

This panel is bringing together producers and industry leaders to chat about why vertical storytelling is taking off and what it might mean for the NZ screen sector. We’ll be looking at how these international ideas are changing, where we might find chances here, and whether vertical microdramas could be a good place for both new and old creators to grow and shine.

WIFT has invited Amie Mills (Head of Funding at NZ On Air), Abba-Rose Vaiaonga-Ioasa (Producer, I Got You) and Jessica Todd (Producer, The Sender) to speak, hosted by Grae Meek.
