Nobody will be surprised that The Mandalorian and Grogu took over the top spot this weekend. On 110 screens, it took $932,358.
Michael dropped to #2, playing on 101 screens. It added $495,989 for a gross of $5,384,167.
Also dropping one place was The Devil Wears Prada 2, which placed at #3 at the end of the weekend, taking $312,920 from 118 screens for $4,681,245 so far.
On its second weekend, Caterpillar bettered its opening weekend performance to place at #7. On 57 screens, it took $53,217 for $174,872.
Sgt. Haane played 38 screens to place at #15. Its weekend take of $18,502 took its total to date to $251,866.
At #16, The Time Travellers Guide to Hamilton Gardens continues to impress. On 32 screens, it added $17,265 over the weekend to grow to $138,315.
Now in its 11th week, Tenor: My Name is Pati played 28 screens, taking $5,226 for a gross of $1,114,377.
Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour was down to 6 screens (and in 3D in selected locations), adding $2,408 for $186,868,
On 18 screens, The Weed Eaters added $1,383 for $45,892.
The 10th anniversary of Hunt for the Wilderpeople was marked on a single screen over the weekend, where it added $680 to lift its gross earnings to $12,315,874.
Holy Days played 3 screens for $114 and a total of $581,799.
No Tears on the Field played a single screen, adding $72 to lift its total to $54,865.
Holy Days took $32 from 12 screens, so is highly unlikely to be taking up weekend screening spots next weekend. Its gross is now $581,684.
Openers this week include no major studio titles, so a good time for James Lucas’ NZ-shot Moss & Freud to hit screens, with Ellie Bamber as Kate Moss, and Maile Daugherty and Matthew Metcalfe among the producers.
