NZ Box Office Report: 29 March 2026

Ryan Gosling in space in Project Hail Mary held on to the top spot, playing on 114 screens, and adding $863,408 to romp past $2 million for a gross to date of $2,098,695.

New arrival Hoppers played 100 screens and opened at #2, taking $282,971 for $468,178 including previews.

Last weekend’s #2 closed this weekend at #3. Dhurandhar: The Revenge played 39 for a take of $247,713, and has probably passed $1 million by now after ending the weekend with a total take of $985,046.

On 85 screens, Rebecca Tansley’s doco Tenor: My Name is Pati continued its strong run, ending the weekend at #5 with another $106,287 (marginally up on its previous weekend), with a total now of $667,221.

The second NZ title in the top 10, at #10, was Holy Days. It added $26,693 from 72 screens, for a total of $506,632.

At #14, Thomasin McKenzie-starring Fackham Hall continued on 28 screens, taking $14,980 to push its gross to $655,345.

Lisa Burd’s Taranaki-shot doco No Tears on the Field played 38 screens, taking $6,428 for a gross of $43,926.

Almost done in cinemas now, Avatar: Fire and Ash played 2 screens, taking $2,973 for a gross of $11,515,086.

On a single screen, Vanessa Wells’ Mighty Indeed took $1,460 for $10,509.

Taratoa Stappard’s Mārama took $1,306 from 6 screens, and ending the weekend with a gross of $202,751.

Grace: A Prayer for Peace played a single screen, taking $770 for a total of $45,553.

Openers this week include the 10th anniversary screenings of Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Kristoffer Borgli’s The Drama, with Robert Pattinson and Zendaya.
