Closing its opening weekend in the #1 spot, romance Reminders of Him took $202,661 from 92 screens for $232,185 including previews.
GOAT climbed back to #2 this weekend, playing 93 screens and adding $132,857 for $742,285.
On its second weekend, Rebecca Tansley’s doco Tenor: My Name is Pati climbed to #3 from last weekend’s #4. On 85 screens (7 more than its opening weekend), it took $129,944 for a total of $323,598.
Wuthering Heights relinquished the top spot it’s held since opening, falling to #4.
Holy Days placed at #6, playing 100 screens for $67,900 to lift its total to $392,069.
At #7, Thomasin McKenzie-starring Fackham Hall played 72 screens, added $48,762 and has now earned $593,539.
In its thirteenth week, and having wrapped awards season with another VFX award just before the weekend’s box office numbers were released here, Avatar: Fire and Ash played on 7 screens, taking $11,362 for a gross of $11,506,474.
Taratoa Stappard’s Mārama took $2,880 from 12 screens, for $196,515.
On 3 screens, Not Only Fred Dagg earned $144 to grow its gross to $460,239.
On a single screen, Anchor Me: The Don McGlashan Story added $255, for a gross of $149,221.
Around the time the weekend’s box office numbers were published here, the Academy Awards were being handed out in Los Angeles. Winners currently playing in NZ cinemas are 7-Oscar winner (including Best Picture) One Battle After Another, 4-Oscar winner Sinners, and single Oscar winners Hamnet, Avatar: Fire and Ashand F1 The Movie.
If 2.5 hours of Ryan Gosling in space is your thing, Project Hail Mary opens in cinemas this week, along with Lisa Burd’s local doco No Tears on the Field.
