As it did across the ditch, Youtuber Mark “Markiplier” Fischbach’s debut feature Iron Lung closed its opening weekend here at the top of the chart, taking $193,902 from 55 screens.
Last weekend’s #1, Marty Supreme, dropped one place to #2, playing 89 screens for a take of $185,571 and a total of $885,597.
At #3, Avatar: Fire and Ash dropped from 108 screens to 87, adding $164,650 to extend its gross to $11,060,841.
At #22, Anchor Me: The Don McGlashan Story was again the best preforming NZ title, adding $8,280 from 22 screens, for $125,020.
One place lower, Not Only Fred Dagg played on 20 screens, earning $6,911 and growing its gross to$435,581.
Pike River played 2 screens and added $405 for a total of $1,441,833.
Arrivals this week include Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?, Jason Statham vehicle Shelter and Zak Hilditch’s Weat Australia-shot horror We Bury The Dead.
