Avatar’s time at the top is done – for now at least – with the arrival of Marty Supreme. On 89 screens, it closed its opening weekend with $512,329.
At #2, Avatar: Fire and Ash is still on 108 screens, adding $445,786 to extend its gross to $10,710,356.
Zootopia 2 ended the weekend at #3, taking $281151 from 100 screens for a total to date of $5,678,454.
At #17, Anchor Me: The Don McGlashan Story was the best preforming NZ title, adding $28,015 from 32 screens, for $105,813.
Not Only Fred Dagg played on 30 screens, earning $25,776, taking its total to $418,173.
Pike River played 4 screens and added $1,267 for a total of $1,440,816.
Two local titles played a single screen. Last year’s local champ Tinā took $54, pushing its total to $6,486,918. The Rule of Jenny Pen took $18, for $49,060.
Arriving this week are Sam Raimi’s Send Help and Jafar Panahi’s Cannes Palme d’Or winner and NZIFF 2025 opener It Was Just An Accident.
