There’s still nothing yet challenging the dominance of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which added $587,592 from 112 screens to total $9,952,877 to date.
Zootopia 2 climbed back into second spot, adding $303,371 from 104 screens as the school holidays head towards their end. The film’s now grossed $5,157,451.
Last weekend’s #2, The Housemaid, dropped to #3. It earned $290,701 from 87 screens over the weekend, for a total so far of $1,859,404.
Shirley Horrocks’ Anchor Me: The Don McGlashan Story ended its opening weekend at #11. It took $40,596 over the weekend, for a total of $57,527 including its 2025 NZIFF screenings.
Two spots down, at #13, Not Only Fred Dagg continued on 41 screens, adding $37,970 for $372,779.
Prime Minister played 3 screens, taking $858 for $1,092,814.
Pike River also played 3 screens, adding $571 for $1,437,518.
Two local titles played on single screens. 2025 box office champ Tinā took $171 for $6,486,864. Justin Eady’s What Lies Between earned $147 for a gross of $8,214.
This week’s new arrivals include Chris Pratt taking on an AI judge in Timur Bekmambetov’s Mercy, and a rabid chimp in horror-thriller Primate.
