Over one million admissions have been delivered to cinemas across Aotearoa this summer, according to Val Morgan.
The latest data, from audience measurement tool CineTAM, covers December 19 to January 11 and shows admissions are up +45% on the same period last year.
Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third instalment in the Avatar series, has been the standout, drawing over 500,000 admissions in Aotearoa since its release on December 19. At the global box office, it has surpassed $1.2 billion.
Val Morgan New Zealand sales director Matt Tremain says, “It’s really exciting to see another big summer at the cinema. The diversity across the slate has been a huge contributing factor to the success, alongside the growth of our advertising network, with the addition of Silky Otter now part of our circuit.”
