Jason Momoa has joined Luciane Buchanan‘s short film Lea Tupu’anga/Mother Tongue as executive producer. Buchanan, Momoa’s co-star in Chief of War, wrote and stars in the short, which has been officially submitted for Academy Awards consideration in the Live Action Short category. They join fellow executive producer Frankie Adams, further deepening the project’s Pacific Islander creative leadership.
Directed by Tongan–NZ filmmaker Vea Mafile’o and produced by Run Charlie Films, the 17-minute story explores themes of Pacific Islander identity, language loss, and intergenerational healing through the journey of a young woman rediscovering cultural ties she thought were lost.
