NZ Box Office Report: 23 November 2025

On 121 screens, Wicked: For Good topped the chart on its opening weekend, its $1,348,709 take being more than 7x its nearest rival.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t dropped to #2, adding $184,493 from 98 screens on its second weekend, for a gross to date of $605,923.

Also dropping one place was Predator: Badlands taking $110,869 to push its gross out to $886,955.

Local champ Pike River held steady at #4 and added $88,812. Its gross take is now $1,228,403, which would have made it a contender for the year’s best local release in any of the last three years, but not this one.

Prime Minister took $11,895 for a total of $1,040,014.

Aussie family flick Kangaroo added $4,004 for $655,161 in total.

Other local titles playing over the weekend were Grace: A Prayer for Peace , which added $331 for a total of $42,831; and James Cleary’s What Lies Between added $342 for a total of $4,709.

Arriving this week are more fam-friendly seasonal fare, including Disney’s Zootopia 2 and Christmas Karma – a modern-day reinterpretation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham, Blinded By The Light). There’s also the much-promo-ed return of Benoit Blanc in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery for a quick theatrical run before heading on to the streaming platform.
