South Pacific Pictures (SPP), part of the All3Media group, is producing new seasons of The Traitors for both Australia and New Zealand.
SPP is behind The Traitors Australia for Network 10, and is also producing the upcoming third season of The Traitors New Zealand for Sky Free’s Three and ThreeNow.
Returning to the iconic Castle Claremont in South Canterbury, the atmospheric South Island location once again provides the perfect backdrop for television’s most devious social-deduction game — showcasing Aotearoa’s haunting landscapes to audiences around the world.
The Traitors Australia welcomes a new host: Gretel Killeen, the bestselling author, award-winning comedy writer, documentary maker, stand-up comedian, and voice artist. Killeen brings her trademark wit and sass as Australia’s most cunning contestants plot and deceive their way toward victory.
Meanwhile, The Traitors New Zealand introduces Madeleine Sami as host, stepping into the role previously held by Paul Henry. One of New Zealand’s most acclaimed screen talents, Sami is an accomplished actor, comedian, musician, director, and writer whose credits include Deadloch (Amazon Prime), Our Flag Means Death (HBO), Taika Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows, Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake, and the hit films Sione’s Wedding and The Breaker Upperers.
Created and developed by IDTV and POSVIDEO, in cooperation with RTL Creative Unit, The Traitors first premiered on RTL4 in the Netherlands in 2021. The format has since become a worldwide hit, with more than 30 international adaptations commissioned. Global distribution is handled by All3Media International.
The New Zealand version has already earned international recognition, screening on BBC Three and streaming on BBC iPlayer to strong ratings and critical acclaim. The format has also been acquired by Peacock (US), Paramount Australia, and Crave (Canada).
Season Two of The Traitors New Zealand won Best Adaptation of an Existing Format at the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards and received the Bronze Award for Best Reality TV Drama at the 2025 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards.
The Traitors New Zealand — Season Three is made with the support of NZ On Air and Screen Canterbury. The Traitors Australia is produced with the support of the New Zealand Screen Production Rebate, underscoring New Zealand’s continued appeal as a world-class production destination.
Beyond the screen, The Traitors continues to expand as a thriving global franchise, with an international licensing program that includes award-winning board and card games, bestselling books, and apparel lines. Earlier this year, the immersive Traitors Live Experience launched in London’s Covent Garden, with plans to roll out to additional territories.
