Still on top and closing in on the $10.2 million take of Moana 2, the year’s best-performing title so far, A Minecraft Movie played 127 screens and added $947,145 over the Anzac Day weekend. It’s now grossed $9,258,198.
Opening at #2, but posing no threat to the chart-topping Minecraft, The Accountant 2 played 93 screens and earned $317,933.
Sinners climbed to #3, taking $296,297 from 69 screens for a total take so far of $689,991.
Tinā is still on 96 screens, and added $186,236 over the long weekend. It’s now taken $5,754,737.
Peter Jackson’s 2018 They Shall Not Grow Old played a single screen. Its $531 take pushed its gross up to $820,542.
On 3 screens, Project Fiftyone took $434 for a total of $10,722.
Maurice & I added $306 for $355,394; while The Rule of Jenny Pen took $72 for a gross take of $48,416.
Titles opening this week include Thunderbolts*, Marvel’s latest mining of its 4000-character universe, and Ursula Grace Williams’ doco Marlon Williams: Ngā Ao E Rua – Two Worlds.
