The board of the NZ International Film Festival has disestablished positions of three of its key staff: Sally Woodfield, Michael McDonnell and Kristen Dowsett.
The board, led by its chairperson Kaine Thompson, has restructured the festival’s team to “support our goal of a more artistically led festival and to ensure its long-term financial sustainability”, according to an emailed statement from Thompson supplied via public relations firm Sputnik.
Woodfield’s executive director position had been disestablished and her last day is Friday, March 28. The board has established a role of “festival manager” and has filled that role with Matt Bloomfield, who worked as the festival’s production and events manager between 2023 and January 2025.
