NZ On Screen – Tuesday Spotlight: Dream in the Making – The Making of Sleeping Dogs

This documentary captures a key moment in the rebirth of Kiwi cinema: director Roger Donaldson and his small crew shooting breakthrough 1977 film Sleeping Dogs. A trip to the Cannes Film Festival had inspired Donaldson and mate Ian Mune to create a film adaptation of CK Stead’s novel Smith’s Dream. Shot mainly in Coromandel, the film stars a young Sam Neill, with special effects by Geoff Murphy.
