Moana 2 held on to the top spot over the weekend, playing on 127 screens and adding $1,405,366 to push its gross comfortably over $5.25 million.
Also holding steady was Wicked at #2, adding $534,791 from 120 screens to total $3,431,548.
A new arrival took the third spot. Opening on 53 screens, Sukumar’s 195-minute action film Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 took $411,580.
Lee continued its run on 51 screens, taking $12,358 for a gross of $1,075,636.
Never Look Away played 14 screens, earning $2,658 to total $109,530.
Taki Rua Theatre – Breaking Barriers added $1,203 from 7 screens, for a total of $2,385.
The big winner at the British Independent FIlm Awards over the weekend, Kneecap, played 7 screens here. It added $468 for a total $73,456.
Other NZ titles playing over the weekend were Head South, which added $275 for $19,768; Maurice & I, which took $73 for $350,064; Sharko, which took $67 for $17,938; and A Mistake, which took $28 for $114,048.
Opening this week is the animated The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, made with a good amount of input from Wellington.
