Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ended its opening weekend in the top spot, having played 110 screens and taken $697,147.
Deadpool & Wolverine dropped to #2, playing 96 screens and adding $152,019 to pass $8 million for its total take.
It Ends with Us placed third, earning $116,602 off 94 screens for a gross of $3,205,436.
We Were Dangerous dropped three spots to #8, playing 78 screens and taking $56,016 for $432,795. That pushed it past Bookworm’s total of $408,579 including the $21,943 earned over the weekend.
Ka Whawhai Tonu – Struggle Without End played 4 screens, added $2,412 and now has a total of $872,317.
Popping up in a single screen, Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins took $990 to push its gross to $1,353,391.
This week’s openers include the te reo version of Disney’s Encanto, and Ken Khan’s made-in-the-islands romantic drama Stranded Pearl, whose cast includes Rawiri Paratene and Ray Woolf.
