Box Office report: 17 March 2024

On its second weekend, Dune held on to the top spot, taking $761,946 from 114 screens for a gross of $4,425,190. It led the pack by a considerable distance, pocketing almost five times the take of the second-placed title, Lee Tamahori’s The Convert.

The Convert played 109 screens on its opening weekend, taking $162,693.

At #3 was another new title, Jae-hyun Jang’s Korean horror Exhuma, which had the weekend’s highest per screen take, earning $87,871 from 10 screens.

Down in the depths of the chart, Force of Nature: The Dry 2 added $585 for a total of $293,560; Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit had a single-screen outing, collecting $155; and Annie Goldson’s Red Mole: A Romance played on 2 screens, collecting $31 to lift its gross to $8,752.

Titles opening this week include Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, reuniting some of the original cast members and Thea Sharrock’s British crime comedy Wicked Little Letters.
