The weekend’s biggest new arrival pushed itself front and centre, taking the top spot. The remake of Mean Girls played 94 screens, taking $318,451 for a gross including previews of $468,041.
Now at #2, Wonka added $279,332 to gross $5,585,980.
Staying steady at #3, The Beekeeper was released too late to give films starring Jason Statham a third 2024 Razzie nomination, but added $202,861 to total $577,896.
Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Wins fell out of the top 20, adding $11,401 to gross $1,320,297.
Towards the lower end of the chart, two local titles continued their single-screen runs. Ms. Information took $208 for a total of $81,954. Loop Track added $80 to gross $72,942.
Titles opening this week include the remake of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple and Zac Efron-starring 1980s wrestling biopic The Iron Claw.
