There were no fireworks in the podium placings over the weekend, which remained unchanged, but plenty of action involving eight NZ titles currently on release.
In the top three, Five Nights at Freddy’s continued to hold the top spot, adding $322,182 to gross $1,270,277. Still second, Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon played 108 screens, taking $165,938 for a total of $898,669. Taylor Swift: The ERAS Tour held up in third place, adding $135,211 for a gross take of $1,299,167.
Cashing in on the popularity of concert films, the remastered Talking Heads film, Stop Making Sense, opened at #4, taking $113,027 including previews.
The highest placed local title, Uproar, remained at #5, adding $43,283 for $676,301.
Two new NZ titles appeared on the chart, both having post-NZIFF wider releases. Tom Sainsbury’s Loop Track (above) ended its first weekend at #8, having taken $26,703. At #12, Alice Englert’s Bad Behaviour took $12,541 for $39,705 including festival screenings.
Gwen Isaac’s Ms. Information added $5,944 for a total of $60,229, while Zoe McIntosh’s Stylebender grew its gross to $115,372, and Anton Steel’s Taking Back Our Beach added $1,503 to total $29,021.
Indie doco River of Freedom has been a standout performer this year, in its third month and still on 10 screens. Over the weekend it took $1,863 to total $354,172.
