DESCRIPTION:Calling all aspiring filmmakers\, storytellers and creatives! Want to learn how to use the power of cinema to tell your stories? \nThe South Auckland Short Film Workshop is a two-day workshop\, held over two weekends\, that covers how to turn an idea into a short film. Whether you’re new to filmmaking or have some experience\, we are calling everyone who aspires to tell their stories on the screen to come and learn what it takes to bring your story to life. \nOver two successive Saturdays\, experienced filmmakers will guide you through the principles of how to write a short film\, the role of the director\, what it takes to get your short film off the ground and what’s needed to pitch to funders and collaborators. Speakers include Marina Alofagia McCartney (Milk & Honey\, Vai)\, Nikki Si’ulepa (Same But Different\, Mā\, Snow in Paradise) and Vea Mafile’o (The Panthers\, For My Fathers Kingdom). \nWho it is for: New and emerging creatives 17+ from any industry who have an interest in short filmmaking. \nWhen: Sat 18th November and Sat 25th November 2023 (9am-5pm each day) \nWhere: Friendship House\, 20 Putney Way\, Manukau CBD\, Auckland 2104\nWheelchair access is available. SUMMARY:Post-Production Drama Lab
DESCRIPTION:The Post Production Drama Lab is a one-of-a-kind mentoring lab for Producer/Director/Editor teams working on drama projects that include short or feature drama films and series. \nUp to five selected Producer/Director/Editor teams will converge in Tāmaki Makaurau\, Auckland for a mentoring weekend\, led by editor Annie Collins. \nThe two days will cover: \n\nIntroductions\, approach\, and expectations\nBefore you get started\nDuring the shoot\nDuring post\nReceiving and dealing with feedback\nHandovers\n\nThe lab will also cover: \n\nPost scheduling\nPost technical requirements and equipment\nHandling VFX\nPickups and found footage\, including archival\n\nFollow-up Mentoring:\nEach team will receive one x 1.5-hour post-lab mentoring session with Annie Collins. This must be used within 9 months of the lab. Meetings can be in person or online. DEGANZ is unable to cover travel costs for mentoring sessions. \nKaupapa: \nThe Guild’s kaupapa is to strengthen director-editor teams in our screen industry and see an increase in long-lasting\, creative collaborations. \nTo support director-editor teams\, we aim to deepen participants’ understanding of the editing process and ways to manage it (and troubleshoot effectively). Do consider applying if your project is facing problems. \nA key focus of the Lab will be how the process supports both the project and the relationships between the creative team.
